Economit were engaged by their client, a large multi-national call centre with a significant data estate to undertake a project to determine, locate and categorise specific data instances within this vast estate in order to ensure and maintain compliance with the PCI DSS standard and in readiness for the upcoming GDPR regulation which comes into force in May 2018.
Using the reports that RiskView provided, the call centre was very quickly able to determine and categorise data according to the prioritised reports from RiskView.
The RiskView application was used to scour all unstructured areas of the call centre’s data estate to determine specific areas and data types that needed to be categorised and mapped as per the businesses requirements. The scouring process itself took five days to process in excess of 20Tb of data across multiple storage devices spanning several networks. RiskView is intelligent in the way it gathers data by applying algorithms during its file scanning procedure to determine the relevance of each file screened and if there is a possibility it may contain relevant data. Once the data had been processed, RiskView’s reporting suite was pointed at the extract to highlight all potential areas of risk in relation to PCI DSS and personally identifiable data
